The Cleveland Indians agreed to a one-year contract with outfielder Leonys Martin to avoid arbitration, it was announced by the team on Wednesday.

The deal, which is apparently non-guaranteed, will pay Martin $3 million, a source told Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports.

Martin appeared in only six games with the Indians in 2018 after being acquired at the trade deadline from the Detroit Tigers. He suffered a bacterial infection shortly after the trade and missed the remainder of the season.

Prior to the infection, the 30-year-old was having his most productive campaign in the majors. He batted .255/.323/.425 with 11 home runs and seven stolen bases in 84 games between the two teams.

This offseason would have been his last pass through arbitration, and Martin is poised to enter free agency after the 2019 season.
