Kershaw hasn't made decision about opt-out clause
Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is still in the midst of a World Series pursuit, but he has a decision looming regarding his future with the club.
Kershaw can opt out of the remaining two seasons of his current seven-year contract after this campaign, but he remains undecided on how he will proceed.
"I haven't made a decision yet," Kershaw said, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.
The seven-time All-Star will have 10 days after the final game of the World Series to decide whether he will take the $34.57 million and $35.57 million owed to him in 2019 and 2020, respectively, or hit free agency.
"It's going to be a busy 10 days," he added.
Kershaw opting out of his contract wouldn't necessarily mean he's leaving Los Angeles. He could instead seek a new deal that would keep him in Dodger Blue long term.
Team owner Mark Walter said in April that he wants the lefty to "be a Dodger for life."
Before he makes up his mind, Kershaw will get at least one more start in the postseason. He is slated to start Game 5 of the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.
Kershaw went 9-5 with a 2.73 ERA over 26 regular-season starts in 2018. Over an 11-year career with the Dodgers, he's posted a 2.39 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 9.8 K/9 over 2,096 1/3 innings.
