David Price done with talking: 'It's about going to do it'

After another underwhelming playoff performance in the ALDS, Boston Red Sox left-hander David Price will look to rebound against the Houston Astros during his scheduled ALCS Game 2 start.

But he says the key is doing, and not talking.

"I’m excited. I want to get back out there. I want to help us win, and I want to do it as a starter," Price said, according to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe. "(But) I’m saying the same things over and over and over. It’s not about saying it at this time. It’s about going to do it."

So far in his career, Price hasn't been able to do it in the postseason. He has a 5.28 playoff ERA across 75 innings. He's 2-9, but neither of those wins came in a game started by the five-time All-Star.

"For me, getting off to a big start, the first couple innings, is such a big deal," he added. "Not just for the pitcher but for the position players as well, just showing them that you’ve got it today. That kind of puts everybody at ease a little bit, lets them relax and play their game. Nobody has to try to do too much. It keeps everyone in their comfort zone to be themselves."

Price didn't get off to a solid start against the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS when he allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks in 1 2/3 innings. He also served up a pair of long balls.

Left-hander Chris Sale will start Game 1 of the ALCS on Saturday at Fenway Park, with Price following in Game 2 on Sunday night.
