Royals agree to 1-year extension with manager Yost
The Kansas City Royals agreed to a one-year extension with manager Ned Yost on Sunday amid one of the worst seasons in franchise history, the team announced.
Kansas City enters the last day of the regular season 58-103 and will tie the second-worst mark in franchise history if they lose their final game. The results are hardly the fault of Yost, as the Royals were expected to suffer significant losses after losing a large chunk of their core in the offseason.
Yost has spent the last nine seasons in Kansas City and owns a 687-735 record and made back-to-back World Series appearances, winning it in 2015.
The 63-year-old said in August that he will retire from managing once his time with the Royals comes to an end.
"I can honestly say I'm never going to go to another organization," Yost told MLB Network Radio. "When I'm done here is when I'm going to be done."
