Kevin Kiermaier's injury woes continued on Wednesday as the Tampa Bay Rays outfielder left the club's contest against the New York Yankees after suffering a hairline fracture in his right foot.
Kiermaier was hit by a pitch from Masahiro Tanaka in the first inning but remained in the game until the fourth. The team announced shortly afterward that an X-ray revealed the fracture.
It's the latest setback for the veteran, who missed a number of games with a bone bruise in his foot earlier this season. He's also been sidelined with a back injury and has appeared in just 87 games.
