The strong pitching of the Houston Astros will gain a substantial addition over the weekend when right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. returns to the team.
Astros manager A.J. Hinch said the 24-year-old will rejoin the team on Saturday, according to Hunter Atkins of the Houston Chronicle.
However, McCullers won't be available to pitch until Monday in Toronto.
Houston plans to prepare him to pitch out of the bullpen, similarly to how he was utilized during last season's playoffs.
The curveball specialist was used primarily as a starter before an injury to his throwing arm landed him on the disabled list in early August.
In 22 starts, he's authored a 3.93 ERA and 1.19 WHIP.
