It doesn't look like the Miami Marlins are looking to make a drastic change on the bench ahead of next season, as team CEO Derek Jeter said manager Don Mattingly will return for a fourth season in charge.

"Is he going to be back in 2019?" Jeter said, according to Steven Wine of The Associated Press. "He's under contract. Yeah."

It will be the final year of Mattingly's current deal that he signed before the 2016 season. Entering Friday, the Marlins are 215-260 under his watch.

The losing, at least in 2018, has been part of what's seen as a course correction. The Marlins traded their biggest stars - Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, Dee Gordon, and Marcell Ozuna - in an effort to restock the farm system and start fresh. Mattingly said he's on board with Jeter's plan to rebuild and develop the young players in the organization.

"The one thing you can count on with Derek is that what he says, he’s going to do," Mattingly said. "He talked about building the minor league system, building this thing the right way. I don’t think there’s one thing he talked about publicly that he hasn’t backed up with his actions. You trust what he says and what he’s going to do."
