Los Angeles Angels two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani made some history in his first inning as a pitcher since June 6.
By passing the 50-inning threshold, Ohtani joined the legendary Babe Ruth as the only players in MLB history to pitch at least 50 frames and hit 15 home runs in the same season.
Ohtani has been limited to designated hitter duties since he returned from the disabled list July 3 due to a Grade 2 sprain of his ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow.
While Ohtani was limited to 49 pitches over 2 1/3 innings in his return, he looked good while getting out of trouble in the first inning. After allowing a pair of baserunners, he froze Houston Astros first baseman Tyler White on a wicked slider for strike three to end the frame.
