The Washington Nationals made history on Saturday, but not the kind they wanted to.

The Nationals were shut out by the New York Mets, 3-0, marking the third consecutive game that they've failed to score a run.

DATE OPP SCORE
Aug 23 PHI 2-0 L
Aug 24 NYM 3-0 L
Aug 25 NYM 3-0 L

It's the first time Washington has been shut out in three straight games since the franchise moved from Montreal.

Washington is also the first MLB team to go scoreless in three consecutive games this season, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

The Nationals last scored on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Phillies, when Ryan Zimmerman hit a two-run, walk-off home run.

The current scoreless streak is another low in what's been a disappointing season for the Nationals, who were widely expected to secure a third consecutive division title, but sit third in the NL East at 64-66.

The team has already traded away Daniel Murphy, Matt Adams, Brandon Kintzler, and Shawn Kelley, while franchise superstar Bryce Harper is eligible for free agency at the end of this season.
