Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. has taken his lumps at the hands of the Miami Marlins in August.

In the top of the sixth inning of Thursday night's game, Marlins reliever Javy Guerra seemed to lose control of a pitch that hit Acuna on the hands.

That happened only innings after Acuna ripped his 21st home run of the campaign - tops among all rookies - and in the first game between the clubs since right-hander Jose Urena earned a six-game suspension for intentionally throwing at the 20-year-old on Aug. 15.

Guerra later confirmed he didn't hit Acuna intentionally.

"Yeah, it's going to get a lot of attention. I'm pretty aware. But, 0-2. Everybody knows, I'm not trying to go in there. I'm not trying to hurt the kid," he said, according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com.

Acuna was visibly upset. Had the pitch broken a bone in his hand, his quest for the National League's Rookie of the Year Award could have been derailed.
