The $126-million man of the Chicago Cubs is done for the year.

Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein announced Tuesday that right-hander Yu Darvish will miss the remainder of the season with a stress reaction in his elbow and a triceps issue, according to multiple sources.

"We do believe that the stress reaction is what has been bugging him all the way back to the end of May and looking back, is consistent with the symptoms and the pain he's been experiencing as he ramps up and tries to come back on two occasions now," Epstein said, according to MLB.com's Carrie Muskat.

"We're really disappointed that he's hurt but at least now we understand what he's been dealing with," Epstein added.

Darvish exited his most recent rehab start after throwing just 19 pitches and experiencing pain.

The stress reaction is a precursor to a fracture, according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers, who added that the ligament in Darvish's elbow is fine.

Darvish was previously diagnosed with right elbow impingement at the end of June while he recovered from right triceps tendinitis.

Coming into the season, Darvish was one of the most sought-after free agents on the market. The Cubs handed him a six-year deal in February.

Since inking the contract, Darvish has made only eight starts, recorded one win, and authored a 4.95 ERA across 40 innings.
