Kenley Jansen's return wasn't enough to prevent the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen from costing the team another win.

With the game tied at three against the St. Louis Cardinals in the ninth inning Monday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts summoned Jansen in an effort to keep things tied.

It was the right-hander's first outing since he was activated from the disabled list following a scare involving his heart 10 days ago.

The All-Star closer allowed back-to-back home runs to Jedd Gyorko and Matt Carpenter in a 5-3 Dodgers loss.

Jansen was initially expected to miss about a month after he was hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat, but the Dodgers activated him weeks ahead of schedule before Monday's contest.

The 30-year-old was given the go ahead after a meeting with a cardiologist.

Jansen underwent heart surgery in 2012 and said he's "90 percent sure" he'll undergo another procedure during the offseason, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.
