Astros' Altuve kept ball from 1st Triple-A hit

It was a hit more than a decade in the making.

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve stroked an opposite-field single during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno on Sunday. It was his first ever base hit at that level, as he jumped from Double-A to the majors back in 2011.

Altuve, who has picked up 1,384 with the Astros, had to wait 11 years after his minor-league debut in 2007 to finally reach the milestone at Triple-A. As such, he made sure he took the ball home.

Set to rejoin the Astros on Tuesday after missing nearly two months with a knee injury, Altuve will have a souvenir from his brief stay in Triple-A.
