Indians' Bauer to miss 4-6 weeks with fractured fibula

Trevor Bauer's recovery timeline from a fractured fibula has been set at four-to-six weeks, Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona told Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.

Bauer was struck by a comebacker Aug. 11 versus the Chicago White Sox and was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday. Put lightly, he's not happy about the impending time off.

"The more I sit back and think about how good my season's going, the more pissed off I get, because now I'm not pitching," Bauer said, per Bastian. "And that's what I should be doing. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there that are happy about the fact that they get to ignore that I'm one of the best pitchers in the league for another year. They don't have to face that reality."

Bauer's absence will most likely be inconsequential to Cleveland's playoff chances in the short term, as the Indians sit 14.5 games up in the paltry AL Central. His health, however, will be imperative to the Indians' success in the postseason. A potential six-week timeline would take him all the way to Sept. 28.

Before hitting the disabled list, Bauer was in the midst of a career season and was vying for the AL Cy Young. In 25 starts, he owns a 12-6 record with a 2.22 ERA and 1.09 WHIP while accruing 5.9 WAR.
