Cleveland Indians starter Trevor Bauer has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a small stress fracture in his right fibula, manager Terry Francona announced Tuesday, per Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.

Bauer was knocked out of his most recent start Saturday versus the Chicago White Sox after taking a line drive off the leg, and the Indians will gather more information before providing a timeline on his potential return to the rotation.

While Cleveland owns a gigantic 12.5-game cushion atop the AL Central, Bauer's absence could prove to be significant in the Cy Young race, as the 27-year-old is in the midst of a career season.

In 25 starts, Bauer owns a 12-6 record and has accrued 5.9 WAR. In addition, he's posted a sparkling 2.22 ERA and 1.09 WHIP while striking out 11.6 batters per nine innings.
