Choo's consecutive on-base streak snapped at 52 games
The streak is over.
Texas Rangers designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo had his consecutive game on-base streak snapped at 52 after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Saturday against the Cleveland Indians. He had a chance to extend the streak with an at-bat in the bottom of the eighth, but hit into a force out at second base and was removed for a pinch runner.
Choo's streak was the best mark in franchise history and longest in the majors since Kevin Millar had a 52-game consecutive on-base streak in 2007. Ted Williams owns the longest streak in league history at 84 games, set in 1949.
Over the course of Choo's run, he slashed .337/.468/.588 with 13 home runs, 11 doubles, and 48 walks. He failed to get a hit in just seven of those games.
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman now has the longest active on-base streak at 24 straight games.
