Report: Orioles, Indians having trade dialogue on multiple players
The Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Indians reportedly continue to have a dialogue on a number of players heading into the non-waiver trade deadline, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
Cleveland leads the AL Central by seven-and-a-half games but will need to significantly improve its roster if it wants to make a deep postseason run. The Indians need help both in the bullpen and the outfield, with Morosi believing Orioles veteran center fielder Adam Jones is a viable possibility.
Jones is hitting .275/.300/.422 with 10 home runs, 24 doubles, and 33 RBIs in 89 games this season and is in the final year of his contract. The 32-year-old does have 10-and-5 rights and can block a trade to any team.
The Orioles also have a number of pending free-agent relievers who are expected to be on the move, including Zach Britton and Brad Brach. The Indians' bullpen currently ranks last in the majors in ERA and Andrew Miller is on the disabled list with a knee injury.
