Blake Snell is heading to the Midsummer Classic after all.

Snell, the Tampa Bay Rays left-hander whose omission from the delegate of American League All-Stars sparked something of an uproar earlier this week, has been added to the roster for Tuesday's game, the league announced, along with Houston Astros right-hander Charlie Morton.

They'll replace Corey Kluber of the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman, both of whom were deemed inactive for the game.

Snell, who led the AL in ERA when the All-Star rosters were revealed Sunday, expressed his frustration Monday over being snubbed, while teammate Chris Archer lambasted his fellow players (as well as coaches and managers) for failing to do their due diligence in electing pitchers to the All-Star Game. After stumbling through his shortest start of the season Thursday in Minnesota, in which he allowed three runs on five hits and three walks over three innings, Snell heads into the break with a 2.27 ERA (176 ERA+) through 20 starts.

"It's frustrating, for sure," Snell told Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. "I thought I did a lot of things I needed to do to be a good candidate to represent the Rays. I'm frustrated, but I think I made a good case ... I feel like I earned it."

Morton, meanwhile, is now heading to the first All-Star Game of his career, as well, a decade removed his MLB debut. Through 19 starts this season, the 34-year-old boasts career bests in ERA (2.96) and WHIP (1.15), while his 31.2 percent strikeout rate ranks eighth-best among qualified starters.
