Ross Stripling is headed to the Midsummer Classic.

The Los Angeles Dodgers swingman was rewarded for an excellent first half by being named to his first All-Star team, Major League Baseball announced Wednesday. Stripling replaces another first-timer in St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas, who's slated to start Sunday and is therefore ineligible to pitch in Tuesday's All-Star Game.

Stripling has pitched in 24 games for the Dodgers this year, but only 13 of those have been starts. Despite the uncertainty in terms of his role, the third-year pro is in the midst of a breakout season, posting a 2.22 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 103 strikeouts and only 13 walks over 89 1/3 innings.

The 28-year-old is the third Dodgers player named to this year's All-Star Game, joining outfielder Matt Kemp - who was voted in as a starter - and closer Kenley Jansen. Infielder Max Muncy could make it four Dodgers if he wins Wednesday's Final Vote contest.
