Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Vince Velasquez made one of the season's most impressive plays Saturday at Citizens Bank Park, throwing Adam Eaton out at first base with his left hand moments after getting smoked in the right arm by a 96-mph line drive.

After somehow retiring Eaton for the final out in the top of the second, Velasquez collapsed on the field in pain. He was replaced on the mound by Victor Arano in the following inning.

Later, the Phillies announced Velasquez had been diagnosed with a bruised right forearm.

Velasquez carried a 4.69 ERA and 1.27 WHIP into Saturday's start, with 104 strikeouts and 33 walks allowed in 86 1/3 innings.
