The Cleveland Indians announced that pitcher Danny Salazar will undergo exploratory arthroscopic surgery on his injured right shoulder on Monday, according to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. Keith Meister and the team will have a better idea of his rehab schedule - and general timetable - after the procedure.

Salazar has not pitched in 2018 after shoulder issues popped up during spring training. He has received a PRP injection, as well as a cortisone shot, and will now go under the knife after alternative treatment has failed to deliver the desired results.

Previously seen as one of the team's front-end starters alongside Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco, Salazar's stock has fallen since the start of 2017. He wound up on the disabled list throughout the season with elbow and shoulder injuries, limiting him to 23 games (19 starts) and 103 innings. He went 5-3 with a 4.28 ERA despite a career-best 12.67 K/9.
