The New York Mets have lost yet another player to a season-ending injury.

Reliever AJ Ramos, who was already on the disabled list, will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder on Wednesday, the team announced.

The 31-year-old hadn't pitched since May 26, when he was placed on the DL with what the team said at the time was a strained shoulder.

Ramos is the latest Mets player to be shut down for the season, joining catcher Travis d'Arnaud and reliever Rafael Montero, both of whom needed Tommy John surgery. All told, the reeling Mets currently have nine players on the DL with a variety of injuries, five of whom are on the 60-day list.

New York acquired Ramos, an All-Star closer in 2016, from the Miami Marlins at last year's trade deadline for two prospects, but he failed to make an impact during his time in Flushing. He pitched in only 49 games as a Met over the past two seasons, and collected seven saves while posting a 5.59 ERA, 1.629 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts over that span.

Ramos will become a free agent at the end of this season.
