Yost: Soler out 'a while' with broken foot bone

Jorge Soler's breakout campaign hit a snag Friday when the Kansas City Royals right fielder tripped on his way out of the batter's box in the sixth inning at Kauffman Stadium and fractured the first metatarsal in his left foot.

According to Royals manager Ned Yost, Soler is going to be out "for a while." He is scheduled to undergo a CT scan on Saturday.

"We'll know more tomorrow," Yost told MLB.com's Jordan Wolf. "They're gonna give it a CAT scan or whatever they give it, and we'll have a better idea ... we don't think it's a surgical thing right now."

Now in his second season with Kansas City, Soler had been one of the few bright spots for the Royals in 2018, having managed an .831 OPS (127 OPS+) with nine home runs and 18 doubles through 60 games prior to Friday's series opener against the Houston Astros.
