The Melkman's tenure in Cleveland didn't even last a month.
Melky Cabrera was designated for assignment by the Cleveland Indians on Thursday to make room for fellow outfielder Brandon Guyer, according to a team announcement.
The 33-year-old Cabrera was signed to a minor-league deal by the Indians on April 23 and had his contract purchased by the Indians on May 20.
While he had some success driving in runs (11 RBIs) during his 17-game stint, he only managed to post a .536 OPS (43 OPS+).
Cabrera, a one-time All-Star, owns a lifetime .285/.334/.417 slash line with 131 homers and 779 RBIs.
