The Houston Astros have placed right fielder Josh Reddick on the 10-day disabled list due to an infection near his left knee, the team announced Wednesday.

Reddick, who first discovered the issue last Wednesday, has been taking medication to treat the infection, but will need more time to recover.

"It's still pretty gross-looking," Reddick said Tuesday, per MLB.com's Christian Boutwell. "But the pain is a lot more tolerable and the level of the pain has gone down severely."

"It's slowly getting there. Just a very unfortunate accident that never really happens a whole lot."

Through 42 games this season, Reddick owns a .740 OPS (109 OPS+) with six home runs and six doubles.

In a corresponding move, the Astros recalled outfielder Jake Marisnick from Triple-A Fresno.
