The New York Yankees' top position prospect, Estevan Florial, will be out of action until August after fracturing the hamate bone in his right wrist, general manager Brian Cashman told George A. King III of the New York Post.

Florial needs surgery on the wrist, which he appeared to injure during a Single-A game Thursday.

"Frustrated a little bit, but it’s a bump in the road and hopefully it’s not too long," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said.

Florial, ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the Yankees' farm system by MLB Pipeline, was hitting .246/.353/.343 with two triples, 10 RBIs, 21 walks, and five steals in 36 games for Single-A Tampa.
