Small earthquake shakes cameras during Reds-Giants game

Stan Szeto / USA TODAY Sports

A magnitude-3.5 earthquake struck the Bay Area during the first inning of the Cincinnati Reds-San Francisco Giants game Monday, but no one other than the camera operator appeared to feel it.

During Joey Votto's first at-bat, the cameras shook briefly as a result of the earthquake. The players did not notice the disruption and continued playing without incident.

Votto exited the game in the fourth inning with lower back tightness and joked afterward that the injury was the result of the quake.

"That earthquake hit and then all of a sudden everything got thrown off," Votto said. "Right around 7:18 p.m. in the middle of my first at-bat."
