Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant exited Sunday's series finale against the Colorado Rockies in the top of the first inning after taking a 96-mph pitch from German Marquez off his head.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon quickly burst out of the dugout, along with a team trainer, to help support Bryant, who appeared to be woozy. Bryant was immediately lifted for pinch runner David Bote, and had to be helped off the field.

Shortly thereafter, the Cubs announced that Bryant had suffered a small laceration above his eye from his sunglasses, but was showing no signs of concussion. He will continue to be evaluated.

Bryant, who carried a .997 OPS into Sunday's matinee, has now been hit by a pitch seven times this season, tops in the majors.
