The Boston Red Sox are the hottest team in the majors, and they're about to get one of their best hitters back.

Manager Alex Cora told reporters Saturday that shortstop Xander Bogaerts will play for Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday and Wednesday, and that the Red Sox hope to activate him from the disabled list in time for Friday's series opener with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Bogaerts was hitting .368/.400/.711 with two home runs, seven doubles, and nine RBIs in nine games before suffering a fractured bone in his ankle during a game April 8. He was placed on the disabled list the following day, with the expectation that he would return in 10-14 days.

The Red Sox haven't missed a beat with Bogaerts out, winning nine of 10 games while outscoring the opposition 81-27.
