Chicago White Sox reliever Danny Farquhar passed out in the dugout after completing the sixth inning against the Houston Astros on Friday and was subsequently rushed to the hospital, according to a team announcement.

Medical personnel and on-site emergency medical technicians attended to the 31-year-old right-hander, who regained consciousness before being taken to Rush University Medical Center by ambulance to undergo further testing.

"It takes your breath away a little bit," White Sox manager Rick Renteria told reporters, per Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune. "One of your guys is down there and you have no idea what's going on. The medical staff was there right away the whole time and they called into the EMTs, and somebody was already caring for him before they even got up."

Herm Schneider, one of the longest-tenured trainers in the sport, was reassuring Farquhar's mother that he was going to be alright, according to White Sox postgame reporter for WGN, Adam Hoge.

Farquhar replaced James Shields during the fifth inning with one out and promptly allowed two inherited runs to score. After striking out Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa hit a two-run home run off of the reliever. In the next at-bat, Josh Reddick was retired on a fly ball to complete the inning.
