Despite 9-run lead, Stanton booed at Yankee Stadium after bases-loaded pop-up

The boos directed toward Giancarlo Stanton at Yankee Stadium have become a regular occurrence for the slugger.

Facing the Miami Marlins on Monday, Stanton came to the plate in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and no outs. The former Marlin popped up to first baseman Justin Bour in foul territory to record the out and was immediately booed by some fans, despite the Yankees leading 9-0, according to Mike Mazzeo of the New York Daily News.

Stanton came to the plate again in the seventh with the Yankees leading 11-0 and proceeded to strike out, receiving another round of boos.

It's been a bit of a struggle for Stanton since coming to New York. He entered Monday's game hitting .220/.303/.458 with three home runs and 25 strikeouts in 14 games, and is slashing .107/.167/.214 with one home run and 16 strikeouts in six games at Yankee Stadium.

Stanton was booed during his home debut earlier this month after going 0-for-5 with five strikeouts, but said the criticism was warranted.

"I was awful today," Stanton said at the time. "You put up a performance like that, you should get some boos."
