Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons will finish out the 2018 season with the club and will have his future with the organization revisited afterwards, general manager Ross Atkins told Sportsnet's Shi Davidi.

Gibbons' job security was recently thrust into the spotlight following a report from The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal indicating the Blue Jays seem "destined" to move on from the 56-year-old. Gibbons later addressed the report, saying he's unsure if he wants to go through a total rebuild.

Last April, the Blue Jays awarded Gibbons a contract extension through the 2019 season with a club option for 2020 after back-to-back trips to the ALCS. Since then, Toronto's outlook has shifted towards the future thanks in large part to a strong prospect pool built around Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Gibbons has been the Blue Jays' skipper since 2013, his second stint with the club. He's managed a 467-458 record over his current stretch with the team.
