Statewide storms cause postponements around MLB

A series of rain, snow, and ice storms have taken a toll on the Sunday baseball schedule, with four games already postponed from the MLB slate.

The Detroit Tigers had a doubleheader scheduled against the New York Yankees on Sunday, though the afternoon game needed to be postponed due to inclement weather. Hours later, the evening game was also postponed with the make-up games set for a June 4 doubleheader.

Meanwhile, one day after the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves played through hostile weather at Wrigley Field, the two teams were forced to postpone the finale of their three-game set. That game will be made up on May 14.

The Cleveland Indians also postponed their second straight game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. The two clubs will play a make-up doubleheader on May 3.

Almost an entire series was lost between the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins, with freezing temperatures and snow at Target Field postponing the final three games of a four-game set between the division rivals. Those games have yet to be rescheduled.

Sunday's game between the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ball Park has been delayed. Slated to start at 1:10 p.m. ET, the Reds said they will provide updates, but are confident the game will be played based on weather reports.

Most recently, Shohei Ohtani's start against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium was also postponed. The Los Angeles Angels will play a make-up game in Kansas City on June 25.
