Yankees' Judge returns to lineup vs. Red Sox

Wendell Cruz / USA TODAY Sports

New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge is making his long-awaited return to the lineup Tuesday night against the Boston Red Sox.

He's batting second - his customary spot - between leadoff man Andrew McCutchen and shortstop Didi Gregorius.

Judge was activated from the disabled list Friday but was only used defensively. He will finally take his first in-game at-bats since suffering a chip fracture in his right wrist when he was hit by a pitch on July 26.

The Yankees initially expected Judge to miss only three weeks of action, but he wasn't able to swing a bat after that timeline came to an end.

The reigning rookie of the year showed no ill effects during simulated games this week, capping them off with an opposite-field home run Tuesday.

A healthy Judge would be a big boost to the Yankees' offense. He's batting .285/.398/.548 with 26 home runs in 100 games this season.
