Yoenis Cespedes' focus will be on solely baseball this season.

The New York Mets slugger admitted he hasn't played golf since July, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post, who reports the 32-year-old received input from Mets strength and conditioning coordinator Mike Barwis about playing less.

Cespedes was informed by Barwis that limiting the amount of time he spent on the links would help him rest more and better recover from injuries. The Mets outfielder only appeared in 81 games last season because of hamstring and quad issues.

The Cuban's passion for golf became a controversial topic in August 2016 after a photo surfaced of him playing with baseball personality Kevin Millar despite being on the team's disabled list. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson later admitted that Cespedes playing golf while injured was "bad optics."

Cespedes, who has apparently added yoga and more running to his offseason workouts to help with durability, is in the second year of a four-year, $110-million contract.
