The Miami Marlins are bringing back a familiar face to beef up their denuded roster, agreeing Wednesday to a one-year contract with veteran outfielder Cameron Maybin, according to the team's official website.

The deal is said to be worth $3.25 million, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, with multiple performance bonuses.

Maybin, 30, spent parts of three seasons with the Marlins early in his career, as the former first-round pick was traded to Miami - along with left-hander Andrew Miller and four other players - in the 2007 blockbuster that sent Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to the Detroit Tigers. From 2008 through 2010, Maybin appeared in 144 games with the Marlins, managing a .714 OPS with 12 home runs and 14 stolen bases before getting traded to the San Diego Padres ahead of the 2011 campaign.

Over parts of 11 seasons in the majors, Maybin has hit .255/.321/.372 (92 OPS+) with 56 homers, 134 doubles, and 164 stolen bases in 910 games.

In 2017, after being traded to the Angels last winter, Maybin put up a .685 OPS in 93 games with Los Angeles before being shipped to Houston ahead of the Aug. 31 waiver trade deadline. Maybin hit just .186/.226/.441 in 21 contests down the stretch with the Astros, but was still included on the club's roster for the division series, championship series, and World Series. Used exclusively off the bench in the postseason, Maybin went 1-for-4 (.250) with one walk and one run for the eventual World Series champions.

With the Marlins, who recently traded away Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, Dee Gordon, and reigning National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton in an offseason teardown, Maybin will likely see time at all three outfield positions.
