Donaldson fires back at reporter claiming he's seeking 'monster payday'
Josh Donaldson is debunking his own rumors.
After it was reported earlier Thursday by Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports that the Toronto Blue Jays third baseman was believed to be seeking a "monster payday" next winter - according to Donaldson's friends - the former AL MVP took to his own Twitter account to share his opinion on the rumors.
Donaldson is set to join a star-studded free-agent class next season, but has been open about wanting to sign an extension to remain in Toronto.
"I've said I've wanted to be here," Donaldson said last month at a fan event. "That's pretty much all I can say. I'm not the one that makes the decisions, nor would I try to put them in that position to do that. I believe the situation will become more fluid when the time is right. The time hasn't been right, to this moment, to my knowledge."
