The results are in and for some, it was a sad day.

On Wednesday, Chipper Jones, Vladimir Guerrero, Jim Thome, and Trevor Hoffman celebrated as they were elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

While the four of them experienced joy and happiness, a few other players eligible for election failed to meet the required five percent of votes to stay on the ballot.

Among the players falling off was two-time Cy Young winner Johan Santana.

PLAYER VOTE % YEARS ON BALLOT
Jamie Moyer 2.4 1

Chris Carpenter 0.5 1

Livan Hernandez 0.2 1
Carlos Lee 0.2 1
Orlando Hudson 0 1

Santana pitched 12 years in the show, formulating a 139-78 record with a 3.20 ERA, and threw one of the game's best change-ups during his career. He also threw the first no-hitter in New York Mets history in 2012.

From 2003-2010, the southpaw was arguably the best left-handed pitcher in baseball, before his career was derailed by shoulder injuries.
