The Baltimore Orioles are open about their pursuit of an outfielder, and while they aren't ready to officially unveil who they covet, the club has reportedly checked the medicals on Jarrod Dyson, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN.

"(General manager Dan Duquette)'s already been talking to him about offers," Orioles manager Buck Showlater said after an hour-long meeting to discuss the recruitment of an outfielder. "We're down the road real deep on a lot of guys."

With Chris Davis as likely the lone left-handed hitter in the lineup, and a noticeable hole in right field, the 33-year-old Dyson would appear to be an option for the O's.

In 111 games with the Seattle Mariners last year, the speedy outfielder played center field in 96 of them while posting a .251/.324/.350 slash line with five home runs and 28 stolen bases.

Dyson's season ended early though, undergoing surgery in September for a sports hernia before officially becoming a free agent.

Adam Jones is the Orioles' incumbent center fielder, with Trey Mancini likely manning left field.

Other left-handed outfielders still on the open market include Carlos Gonzalez and Jon Jay, while Melky Cabrera is a switch-hitter.
