With doctors declaring Eduardo Nunez's right knee is back to full health, the free-agent infielder worked out for the Boston Red Sox and has been in contact with seven other teams as well, according to Chad Jennings of the Boston Herald.

The 30-year-old utility infielder suffered a knee injury last year after the Red Sox acquired him midseason from the San Francisco Giants. After Nunez spent most of September sidelined, he made a comeback during the American League Division Series against the Houston Astros, but aggravated the injury in his first at-bat.

In 38 games with the Red Sox, Nunez posted a .321/.353/.539 slash line over 173 plate appearances and played an integral role in the club winning the division.

Between the Giants and Red Sox, Nunez spent time at third base, shortstop, second base, and both corner outfield spots.

Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski confirmed that Nunez worked out for the team in the Dominican Republic.
