The already strained relationship between Christian Yelich and the Miami Marlins took its latest turn on Friday, just days after the outfielder's agent, Joe Longo, described the relationship between his client and the team as being "irretrievably broken."

Marlins president Michael Hill responded to the agent's comments on Friday, telling Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports that the team expects Yelich to honor all his commitments to the franchise as long as he's on their side.

"Christian is a member of the Miami Marlins. We expect him to be at FanFest (on Feb. 10) and to be ready for spring training," Hill said.

Hill's comments come after Longo also hinted earlier this week at the 26-year-old potentially considering not reporting to camp next month.

"I think having him report (to spring training) and attempting to include him moving forward is going to be uncomfortable for both sides," Longo said on Tuesday.

Although Yelich is still hoping to be traded, he is planning on attending both the Feb. 10 FanFest and spring training, according to Heyman.

Yelich and catcher J.T. Realmuto - who also reportedly requested a trade - are the only stars still remaining with the Marlins after their winter sale; both have since expressed their desire to be traded. In the case of Yelich specifically, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported Friday the Marlins are engaged in discussions with interested teams but aren't guaranteeing that a trade will be consummated.

A lengthy list of teams - including the Atlanta Braves, Washington Nationals, and Chicago White Sox, among others - are said to have interest in Yelich. Though it's been said the Marlins are aiming for a large return - they reportedly asked Atlanta for highly touted outfield prospect Ronald Acuna, but were turned down - an unidentified team that has talked to the Marlins told Jackson their demands have since become "more reasonable" in nature.
