Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Yasmany Tomas was arrested Thursday morning and subsequently charged with reckless driving and criminal speeding, according to KTAR News.

Tomas was allegedly driving 105 mph prior to being pulled over.

"We are very disappointed to learn of this news," a Diamondbacks spokesman said. "We are still gathering facts, and will refrain from further comment at this time as this is a pending legal matter."

If found guilty of criminal speeding, Tomas could face up to 30 days in jail and a maximum fine of $500. Either charge could lead to the suspension of his licence.

The 27-year-old appeared in just 47 games for Arizona last season, hitting .241/.294/.464 with eight homers.
