Hawaii was sent into a panic last Saturday when the state sent an emergency alert warning people of an inbound ballistic missile threat, but just like his presence on the mound, Texas Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels wasn't rattled by the news.

Hamels and his family were vacationing in Wailea, Hawaii when the alert warned people to take immediate shelter. Despite the potential catastrophe, the 34-year-old told Jori Epstein of The Dallas Morning News he didn't panic.

"I'm like psht we've got 20 minutes, we're screwed," he explained. "You see that (warning), I'm going all right we're screwed. We were just like, 'OK.'"

The Hamels family camped out in their hotel room until the mistake was confirmed.

"We would've been dead in three seconds so I'm like, after 20 minutes ... that's the whole thing. I can't do anything about it."

This is the second time Hamels has remained poised during a potentially disastrous time. When he was a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, he drove through an earthquake that hit Washington, D.C. and reverberated to Philadelphia.
