Royals' Duffy pleads guilty to DUI
On Tuesday, Kansas City Royals left-hander Danny Duffy pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and was placed on one year's probation, according to the Associated Press.
Duffy will pay $1,220 in fines and court fees. Throughout the probation process, he will visit an officer once a month and undergo random breath, blood, and urine tests.
Back in August, the pitcher was arrested at a Burger King located approximately 30 minutes from Kauffman Stadium, where he was reportedly found passed out in a drive-thru line after he failed to pull up and collect his food.
At the time, the 29-year-old was absent from the team because he was slated to undergo an exam on his injured pitching elbow, an ailment that plagued the left-hander all season, eventually resulting in surgery.
Duffy, who is entering the second season of a five-year, $65-million extension signed last winter, is expected to be ready for spring training. He finished 2017 with a 3.81 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 24 starts.
