Report: Mets interested in Moustakas, Frazier if price is right
With David Wright's status for 2018 and beyond up in the air after appearing in only 75 games over the past three seasons, the New York Mets are understandably keen on finding stability at third base.
The team is eyeing free agents Mike Moustakas and Todd Frazier to man the hot corner, but only if their asking prices drop, sources told Jon Morosi of MLB.com.
Neither player's contract demands are known, but Moustakas, a Scott Boras client, is coming off an All-Star campaign where he hit .272/.314/.521 while hitting a Kansas City Royals franchise record 38 home runs. He was named the American League comeback player of the year following the season.
Between stints with the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees, Frazier hit .213/.344/.428 with 27 long balls. While the batting average leaves a lot to be desired, Frazier drew a career-high 83 walks in 147 games, helping him reach his highest on-base percentage in his seven seasons.

Whatever their current asking prices, the Mets want to pay less, and have been linked to the trade market as well.
