The Boston Red Sox reportedly tendered a five-year offer to J.D. Martinez, and apparently they aren't alone, as Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports he's looking at other offers of the same length from around the league.

Though the teams are not known, Heyman mentions that the Arizona Diamondbacks, Toronto Blue Jays, and San Francisco Giants have been linked to the 30-year-old slugger this offseason.

While rumors have connected Martinez most closely to the Red Sox, Boston may not be the front-runner to recruit him unless the club's able to add a sixth year, Heyman reports. Even on a five-year deal, it's possible that signing Martinez would cost the Red Sox an additional $60 million in luxury tax.

The outfielder and his superstar agent Scott Boras are reportedly seeking a $200-million contract. The Diamondbacks are apparently willing to push their offer into the nine-figure territory, but their financial commitment to Zack Greinke - who is still owed $138.5 million - would likely preclude them from being the highest bidder, Heyman reports.

Martinez was one of the most prolific hitters in baseball last season, belting 45 home runs in 119 games split between the Diamondbacks and Detroit Tigers. He's played more than 125 games just once in his career and is a defensive liability, but posted a .303/.376/.690 slash line last year.

Due to the midseason trade that sent him from Detroit to Arizona, Martinez was ineligible to receive a qualifying offer and is therefore not attached to draft-pick compensation, unlike fellow free agent Eric Hosmer.
