The Chicago White Sox have acquired right-handed reliever Joakim Soria in a three-team deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Kansas City Royals.

The White Sox also received reliever Luis Avilan and $2 million in cash from the Dodgers, in addition to $1 million from the Royals, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reports. The team is also sending minor-league second baseman Jake Peter and reliever Scott Alexander to L.A.

The Royals acquired minor-league infielder Erick Mejia and starter Trevor Oaks from the Dodgers to complete the trade.

Soria has spent the bulk of his professional career with the Royals, and served as the team's closer from 2007-11. He returned to the team in 2016 after several years away. He posted a 3.70 ERA and a 10.29 K/9 over 56 innings in 2017. The 33-year-old has one year and $9 million - plus a $10-million team option - remaining on his contract.

The Dodgers may have found a new ace lefty for their bullpen in Alexander. In 2017, he had a 2.48 ERA while posting a 73.8 percent ground-ball rate, the highest among qualified relievers.

Meanwhile, Oaks could break camp as a member of the Royals' rotation. The 24-year-old righty went 4-3 with a 3.64 ERA over 15 starts and one relief appearance in Triple-A last season.
