Astros sign former Cubs closer Rondon to 2-year deal

The World Series champion Houston Astros added another piece to their bullpen Friday, signing right-hander Hector Rondon to a two-year deal, the team announced.
Rondon will receive $8.5 million over the two years, Rosenthal adds.
The reported signing comes two days after the Astros inked fellow reliever Joe Smith to a two-year deal.

The 29-year-old Rondon had spent his entire career with the Chicago Cubs before being non-tendered at the beginning of December. He recorded a 3.22 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across five seasons in Chicago, and saved 77 games while serving as the team's closer from 2014-16.
In a corresponding move, the Astros designated outfielder Preston Tucker for assignment.
