With all MLB clubs gathering in one place to discuss potential trades, some doozies are bound to leak.

The most surprising name mentioned to date might be the Arizona Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke. The Texas Rangers have inquired about the ace right-hander, though no deal is close to happening, according to MLB.com's TR Sullivan.

Any agreement would require plenty to go right, but discussions are reportedly "real and ongoing."

Greinke is entering the third season of a six-year, $206.5-million deal he signed with Arizona before the 2016 campaign. After an up-and-down first season in the desert, Greinke went 17-7 with a 3.20 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 32 starts in 2017. His arm was a big reason the Diamondbacks surged to an NLDS berth.

The Rangers are likely looking to replace starter Yu Darvish after sending him to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the July trade deadline. Acquiring Greinke would certainly help build a formidable one-two punch at the front of the rotation alongside lefty Cole Hamels.
