Boras puts J.D. Martinez on same level as Stanton
King Kong isn't the only comparison super-agent Scott Boras is making to his client J.D. Martinez.
Less than a week after likening the 30-year-old slugger to the giant movie ape, Boras placed Martinez in the same class as another sought-after slugger.
"He had a .690 slugging. He's 50 points ahead of the Judges, the Stantons, the Trouts, the Harpers," Boras told MLB Network Radio. "He's had 105 home runs. Stanton's had 113 home runs over the last three years. When you do the comparisons of slugging, OPS, and all of the other things, he is up at those levels with the player everybody is talking about in Stanton."
Boras, who has a knack for getting his clients especially good long-term deals, may have a point.

The agent is reportedly seeking a contract worth $210 million over seven years for Martinez, the top run producer in a thin free-agent market, while a number of teams - including the Red Sox, Cardinals, and Giants - are reportedly interested in acquiring Stanton from the Miami Marlins, who are trying to reduce payroll.
